　　A green isle in the sea, love,
& i: L$ n( s9 y0 I1 ]　　A Fountain and a shrine,
　　All wreathed with fairy fruits and flowers,
' d. H$ L3 J. X* ~　　And all the flowers were mine.
% k) p) ]  m- v: l* W% p' _　　Ah, dream too bright to last!
% W$ L, Z1 A- y' f/ V　　Ah, starry hope! that didst arise

　　A voice from out the Future cries,
　　“On! on! ” ── but o’er that
* L  [: m/ d, V: G: w" l　　( Dim gulf!) my spirit hovering lies
　　Mute, motionless, aghast!
　　For, alas! alas! with me
　　The light of life is o’er!
　　“No more--- no more --- no more---”
